Plymouth Couple Marries Before Wife's US Navy Deployment

KINGSTON, Mass. (WHDH) - Dakota Neary Rose was struggling to find time to get married before she was deployed on a military mission.

But, Kingston Town Clerk Paul Gallagher made sure Rose married her fiance before she departed.
Rose, a sailor in the Navy, was set to deploy to San Diego and had only nine days with her fiance.
Rose's mother, a Kingston native, asked Gallagher for guidance on how to get the Plymouth couple married before her daughter deployed.

"I said 'if they can come in here on [December] 29, we can do it on Jan. 1,'" said Gallagher, who comes from a military family.

Gallagher got the couple a marriage license, made sure they waited and made sure the couple waited the required three days.

On New Year's Day, Gallagher opened the Town Hall, when it is normally closed, and officiated the couple's wedding.

"We try to make sure our service members know that there is love and everybody is waiting for them to come back," Gallagher said.

The couple was given a weekend honeymoon in Boston before they separated.
