NH Soldiers Return Home On New Year's Day

MANCHESTER, NH - They were gone a long time.
"It' been almost 11 months," Trisha Ewalt said.
Ashley Lavoie has been waiting "over 300 days."
But Friday afternoon, for dozens of New Hampshire families, the weight of all those weeks and months was lifted when their deployed family members returned home.
Denise Crane, a soldier's spouse, said, "Dealing with two that are two and under it was definitely a lot. So we're excited to have Daddy back."
More than 120 members of the New Hampshire National Guard arrived back in Manchester Friday afternoon after spending nearly a year in the Middle East training allied troops.
Many of the soldiers who left all those months ago are young dads. Who, in serving their country, missed big events with their little ones.
"This little guy wasn't walking or talking and he is now," Crane said.
Rachel Hayes had been counting down the days of this deployment.
"Three hundred and twenty-nine days," she said.

They were overwhelmed, overcome and over the moon.
Welcome home.
Everyone was happy when the families were reunited.
Sgt. Jonathan Hayes of the NH National Guard said, "It's amazing. It's been a long year and it's good to be home."
